High schools: Belchertown girls soccer takes down South Hadley

The Belchertown girls soccer team had five different scorers en route to a 6-3 home win over defending state champion South Hadley, Friday.

Avery Klingensmith (assist) scored twice, while Sarah Sedlacek (two assists), Alexa LaFlamme, Alexa Ribeiro and Maya Sullivan each had one goal.

Erin Lucas finished with one assist and Mabelle Bessette had six saves in goal.

Lauren Marjanski scored twice for South Hadley, while Jaidan Luis had one goal.

Rylee Suchinez (five saves) and Drew Alley (three saves) split time in goal for the Tigers.

Hampshire Regional 3, Holyoke 0 — Maggie Rubeck scored twice and Maddie Pond added one goal as the Raiders won on on the road.

Parker Pallante and Riley Shaughnessy each had one assist on Rubeck’s goal that made it 3-0 in the fourth quarter.

Emily Yan made two saves in the shutout.

Taryn Ryan stopped 10 shots for the Purple Knights.

Boys soccer

South Hadley 5, Granby 1 — On Thursday, Theo Abrams, Liam Sibley-Welch, Patrick Lavelle (assist), Jonas Clarke and Arya Kouzehkanani each scored as the Tigers won at home.

Tyler Evans made three saves, while Max McCurdy and Declan Joy had one assist apiece.

Colin Murdock scored for the Rams and Daniel Gauvin made eight saves.

Field hockey

South Hadley 2, East Longmeadow 1 — Megan Carey and Gabi Moroney each scored in the first half as the Tigers (1-1-1) won at home under the lights.

Camryn Bernier and Carey each had one assist. Kaitlyn Lynes made one save in the win.

Longmeadow 4, Belchertown 0 — Abigail Rothstein made 24 for the visiting Orioles.

Frontier Regional 3, Mahar 1 — Emily DeMaio scored all three goals for the Red Hawks, while Ella Flanders recorded five saves.


Westfield 164, Hampshire Regional 200 — Levi Zielinski shot a 45, while Nick Elias-Gillette and Owen Lech each fired a 51 but the Raiders fell at Tekoa Country Club. Pryden Messier added a 53.
