LGBTQ+ group endorses Kline

NORTHAMPTON — The Bay State Stonewall Democrats, an LGBTQ+ advocacy organization of Democratic Party activists, is endorsing Chelsea Kline for the Hampshire, Franklin and Worcester District in the Massachusetts Senate.

“Chelsea Kline has the courage, compassion, and commitment needed to be a strong advocate for LGBTQ+ people,” Bay State Stonewall said in a statement released by the Kline campaign. “We are thrilled to support Chelsea Kline, a member of our community and a fighter for equal rights for everyone.”

Kline, a Northampton women’s rights advocate and educator, is running for the Democratic nomination as the only candidate on the ballot, though she is facing four write-in challengers. They include Northampton City Council President Ryan O’Donnell, Central Hampshire Veterans’ Services Director Steven Connor of Northampton, former campaign director Jo Comerford of Northampton and attorney David J. Murphy of Amherst.

The primary will take place on Sept. 4.

Progressive Mass. endorses Sabadosa

NORTHAMPTON — Lindsay Sabadosa has earned the backing of Progressive Massachusetts in her race for the 1st Hampshire District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives.

Progressive Massachusetts is a progressive advocacy organization. Its membership votes on all endorsements, which are only awarded to those who earn more than 60 percent of the vote.

“Lindsay Sabadosa has been a tireless advocate for women’s rights, immigrants’ rights, and health care for all. She will bring the knowledge, commitment, passion, and attentiveness of an activist to her work representing the 1st Hampshire District,” said Jonathan Cohn, co-chair of the organization’s election and endorsement committee, in a release from the Sabadosa campaign.

Sabadosa, a Northampton women’s rights advocate and translator, is running for the Democratic nomination against Diana Szynal of Hatfield, the longtime district director for the late Rep. Peter Kocot, D-Northampton.

The 1st Hampshire District consists of Northampton, Westhampton, Southampton and Hatfield in Hampshire County and Montgomery in Hampden County.

The primary will take place on Sept. 4.

Environmental League backs Goldstein-Rose

AMHERST — The Environmental League of Massachusetts Action Fund is endorsing state Rep. Solomon Goldstein-Rose, I-Amherst, in his re-election bid for the 3rd Hampshire District seat.

Executive Director Joe O’Brien calls Goldstein-Rose a “rising environmental champion” in the state Legislature.

“He knows that in towns like Amherst and across the state we need to build a clean energy economy that will power us into the future,” O’Brien said.

The group cited Goldstein-Rose’s commitment to the state investing in clean energy and sustainable transportation to address climate change, create jobs and build healthier communities.

“Climate change remains my top priority, and I look forward to continue working with ELM on bold energy policies for Massachusetts,” Goldstein-Rose said in a statement.

Goldstein-Rose is seeking re-election to the seat that represents Amherst, Pelham and Preicnct 1 in Granby at the Nov. 6 election, where he will be challenged by either Eric Nakajima or Mindy Domb, Democrats who are competing in a Sept. 4 primary.
