Michael A. Kirby: High marks

A friend of mine was briefly flooded because of the drainage failure in the apartment house on Hampton Avenue. He gives the city high marks for how quickly they showed up to evacuate tenants and contain and clean up after the water came cascading down from the ceiling.

The list of people who responded and helped out include the Police and Fire departments. The School Department supplied school buses to evacuate tenants. Temporary shelter was provided by the Senior Center and even Central Services and the building inspector showed up to help. I think all this response may have helped get everyone back into their apartments and restrict the damage.

Good work.
