Wednesday’s prep schools: Williston’s Devin DeVerry takes home skiing title

Devin DeVerry, of Williston Northampton, won the final slalom race of the Mount Institute Ski League and clinched top individual boys honors on the season Wednesday.

DeVerry’s time of 41.25 seconds at Berkshire East edged Griffin Sarachek of Deerfield Academy (42.20) in the final race.

DeVerry finished with 288 points to Sarachek’s 282 in the final standings.

Williston placed third in the final race, behind winner Northfield Mount Hermon and runner-up Eaglebrook.

Deerfield (51 points) took top team honors. Williston (38) finished fourth.

In the girls slalom race, Sophie Carellas was fourth (48.27) for Williston, which was fifth in the final race and in the final team standings.

Valerie Hetherington of Deerfield placed first (262 points). Carellas was sixth (237).

Girls basketball

Miss Porter’s 53, Williston 50 — Olivia Bonavita had 17 points and Sarah Sullivan added 16 but the Wildcats fell on the road.

St. Andrew’s 62, MacDuffie 10 — Hannah Sudsbury and Jordyn Shepard each hit a 3-pointer in the second half and Florence Tshimanga had four points as the Mustangs (8-11) fell on the road.

Boys hockey

Albany Academy 3, Williston 2 — Owen Sylvia and Sam Milnes scored, while Xander Rogers had 30 saves in net for the Wildcats.

Boys squash

Williston 7, Kingswood-Oxford 0 — Joe Shively, Zack Robins and Wiley Jung closed their careers with victories as the Wildcats swept on the road.

Girls squash

Kingswood-Oxford 7, Williston 0 — Lindsay Whipple (Easthampton) fell in four games as the Wildcats lost on senior day.
