The UMass men’s lacrosse team’s new home will have a familiar feel. The Minutemen are joining the newly-formed Atlantic 10 men’s lacrosse league, which will begin play in 2022-23.

The league will begin sponsoring the sport with three other full A-10 members (Richmond, Saint Joseph’s and St. Bonaventure) and two affiliate members (High Point and Hobart). The six conference teams represent the NCAA’s minimum for postseason eligibility.

“The challenges and rivalries ahead will be consistent with where UMass men's lacrosse has been and looks forward to being a part of,” UMass coach Greg Cannella said in a release.

The A-10 has sponsored women’s lacrosse for the past 23 years.

UMass was a member of the Colonial Athletics Association for 13 years. The Minutemen have made 19 NCAA Tournaments and reached the 2006 national championship game.
