Though it’s only April, the UMass women’s basketball team might have made its biggest move of the offseason.

On Sunday morning, Saint Joseph’s freshman Laila Fair tweeted “committed!!!” with photos in a UMass uniform standing with the women’s basketball coaching staff. Fair’s decision to join UMass is a notable addition to the program in more ways than one; it’s not common to transfer in-conference, and Fair was one of the best freshmen in the Atlantic 10 Conference this past season.

Fair was one of four Saint Joseph’s freshmen to be named to the A-10 All-Rookie team, the most from one program in conference history. She was the only Hawk player to earn a nod on the A-10 All-Championship team, posting 17.7 points and seven rebounds per game in the A-1o tourney.

Though an injury sidelined her for six regular season games, Fair started 12 games for the Hawks, finishing the season with averages of 7.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. She finished fifth in the A-10 with a 50.8 field goal percentage.
