HADLEY — Attorneys to handle labor law and to provide regular legal advice to the town are among professionals being sought by the town of Hadley.

Legal advertisements to recruit both labor counsel services and general town counsel services, and companies to manage the town’s network services and provide a technical support plan for information technology, are requests for proposals placed in the Daily Hampshire Gazette this week.

They are part of a series of requests for proposals (RFP) that Select Board Chairwoman Jane Nevinsmith says are part of the normal course of running the town.

“This is business as usual,” Nevinsmith said of the ads, noting that more advertisements will be placed in the coming days, with all submissions due on June 21, or before the new fiscal year begins July 1.

Town Administrator Carolyn Brennan said the Select Board chose to utilize the RFP process to reach a broader audience and to find what options are available for the services. Town legal services are not required to be pursued in that manner by state law, though communities are given that option, she said.

The RFP for managed network services is required every three years, with the ability to extend that for one year. Brennan said that extension was done in 2021.

In September 2020, the Select Board reviewed three submissions for serving as town counsel. At that time, KP Law of Boston, which in its application from president Lauren Goldberg noted that it had served as Hadley’s labor and general counsel for more than 25 years, was selected over Mead, Talerman and Costa of Newburyport and Miyares and Harrington of Wellesley.
