U.S. reps. McGovern, Jayapal to hold town hall in Northampton on Saturday

NORTHAMPTON – U.S. Reps. Jim McGovern, D-Worcester, and Pramila Jayapal, a Democrat from Washington state, will host a joint town hall meeting at the First Churches of Northampton on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 4 p.m.

The lawmakers will discuss a range of issues, including health care and the country’s infrastructure. They are also expected to discuss the ways House Democrats are advocating for working class families in Congress, according to McGovern’s office. 

Congresswoman Jayapal is the vice-chair of the House Congressional Progressive Caucus and was the first Indian-American woman elected to the House of Representatives. She represents Washington’s 7th district which includes Seattle and surrounding areas and has been a national advocate for women’s, immigrant, civil, and human rights.

The town hall meeting is open to the public and being co-sponsored by the local chapter of the Progressive Democrats of America. First Churches of Northampton is located sat 129 Main St. in downtown Northampton.
