HADLEY — Two dozen teams of teenagers from across the state will compete in a robotics meet at Hopkins Academy on Saturday.

The daylong event, featuring up to 10 teams from western Massachusetts, is part of the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Technical Challenge.

The meet will run from 10:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3:30 p.m.

Bob Cullen, the parent leader for the Hopkins team, said as a host the Hadley team won’t compete, but that it has already qualified to advance in the competition.

Last spring, the Hadley team, called Evolution Robotics, earned a place among 128 teams invited to the world championship in Detroit.
