The Western Massachusetts Track & Field Officials Association announced Friday the winners of the Nate Hale and Vincent Falardeau Awards.

South Hadley senior Lindsay Marjanski was named the winner of the Vincent Falardeau Award. Holyoke senior Jack Shea was named the winner of the Nate Hale Award.

The awards are typically presented at the PVIAC divisional championships, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the meets were canceled.

According to the WMTFOA, the athletes who have been nominated for these awards not only excel on the track, but also in the classroom. It is however, their exceptional school and community service that makes each athlete worthy of the award.

Falardeau taught foreign languages at Northampton High School and was the president of the Western Mass. Track and Field Officials Association for 10 years. The award is presented to a senior female who has competed in track and field for at least two years.

Hale taught general science and agriculture at Arms Academy and Mohawk Trail. He was one of the founders of the Western Mass Track and Field Officials Association.

This award is presented to an outstanding senior male who has competed in track and field for at least two years.
