NORTHAMPTON — Smith College juniors and bike commuters Esther Solomon and Harriet Wright weren’t fazed by the frigid temps (13°F) on their ride into downtown Northampton on Friday. The two, who likely experienced a self-induced wind chill that would approach zero on a typical 10-15 mph ride, said they’d also taken a midnight ride the night before, when temperatures were only in the single digits.
