HUNTINGTON— One person was pronounced dead at the scene of a rollover accident on Route 112 in Huntington Wednesday night, state police said.

Two people were involved in the single-car accident that occurred around 8 p.m., according to State Police Lt. Tom Ryan. The vehicle went over a guardrail and into the woods. The passenger, Melinda Carriveau, 39, of Montgomery, was ejected from the pick-up truck and found dead at the scene, Ryan said. Carriveau was transported to Baystate Noble Hospital in Westfield where she was pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, state police said.

The driver, a 42-year-old man from Montgomery, was found trapped in the truck. He was transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with serious injuries, state police said.

Route 112 near the 6-mile marker was shut down in both directions until about 11:00 p.m. while State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction investigated the accident. Ryan said what caused the 2000 Ford F250 to rollover is still under investigation.

State Police Troop B Headquarters, State Police Crime Scene Services Section, State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, Hampshire County District Attorney’s Office, Huntington Police, and Westfield EMS all assisted on scene.
