WESTHAMPTON — A fallen tree left more than 800 people without power in Westhampton and the surrounding area Saturday morning, according to utility company Eversource.

Power has since been restored.

“At 10:05 this morning, we had a report of a tree down on Route 66 in Westhampton,” said Al Lara, a spokesman for Eversource. “The tree brought the wires down.”

The company’s outage map showed 819 of Eversource’s 839 Westhampton customers without power, as well as 35 in Easthampton, 26 in Southampton and two in Northampton.

That number had been cut down to 542 total, all but two in Westhampton, by 11:30 a.m.

“Through rerouting of power, we’ve been able to restore a little more than 340 customers,” Lara said.

As for the remaining outages, Eversource informed customers that power had been restored around 2 p.m. Lara later confirmed that all power was back on as of 2:30 p.m.
