Local baseball players compete in MBCA all-star games

A host of Hampshire County athletes represented western Massachusetts in Massachusetts Baseball Coaches Association All-Star games last week.
In the West Central Senior All-Star Game, Hampshire Regional’s Edward Przybyla had a hit, stole two bases and scored a run in a 5-4 Central victory. South Hadley’s Nate Carillon also added a hit with two stolen bases and scored a run.
Granby’s Daniel Gauvin struck out four in two innings of work, while Belchertown’s Brady Perkins threw an inning.
Holyoke’s Braden Lamirande, Devin Santos and Owen Pecia, Granby’s Jonathan Santiago, South Hadley’s Ben Foley, Frontier’s Liam Skribiski-Banack and Alex Gochinski and Belchertown’s Tyler McDonald were also selected to the West team.
In the junior select game, Hampshire’s Liam Pond keyed Team West to a 4-1 win over Team East with a triple and a walk, touching home twice at Rotondi Field in Malden on June 15. His Raiders teammate Drew Thompson also participated.
Belchertown’s Josh Misiaszek and Ian McDonald and Holyoke’s Raul Lopez-Ofrey participated in the sophomore select game.
Over 30 college coaches attended the sophomore and junior select games.
The Northampton Post 28 Senior Legion squad trailed East Springfield 2-0 after one inning but responded by scoring 16 of the next 17 runs to walk away with a 16-3 victory in five innings in Springfield on Friday.

Jamie Fowler and Smiarowski each cracked a three-run triple. Matt Walko and Trey Kuzmeski both brought in two with a double, while Liam Flynn cracked a pair of hits and scored three runs in the victory.
