Sanjay Arwade: Appreciates Amherst police

Thanks to the police, firefighters and EMTs from Amherst and surrounding communities who showed up to maintain order and save lives during the so-called Barney Blowout around UMass Amherst. Thanks as well to Scott Livingstone for his many years of service to the town. I, for one, am glad that when order needs to be maintained the police remain a phone call away. Over my years in Amherst the police have helped keep my street in East Amherst livable. When dozens or hundreds of students are endangering themselves and others, it’s the police, and only the police, with the authority to restore order, and I hope they continue to help us maintain the precarious livability of the mixed residential sections of Amherst.
