One can look at the COVID crisis in India as a result of having a Hindu-nationalist leader who is clearly not up to the job, while forgetting that over 20 million capable Indians have joined a vast diaspora out of India looking for a better life.

If these people, many of whom are the best educated and most productive members of society, were living and working in India, perhaps this disaster would not have occurred. So, one cannot avoid seeing a certain hypocrisy in those Indian-Americans who lament the terrible conditions in India, while they themselves sit safely in their corporate offices.
