To the woman who insulted the drama students at Easthampton Diner the Sunday early evening before Thanksgiving: For many, many months, these kids auditioned, rehearsed and perfected their amazing performance of “The Curious Savage” at Easthampton High School. After four performances, it was time to be kids and enjoy their success.

These are wonderful students who put their all into the play. They were enjoying laughs, good food and conversation with and in the presence of their drama teacher at the diner. Not only were they not over the top loud, but they were definitely not disrespectful. They could be out in the world doing so many worse things.

If you needed a perfectly serene atmosphere, perhaps the diner was not your best possible choice, or at the very least you could have asked to be seated elsewhere. Real things to ponder — cancer, suicide, mass shootings, COVID-19, the foster care system — instead of judging all today’s teens as trouble.

Please know that the teacher told them that they were fine, so it appears as though you only made a fool of yourself. I’m a proud parent of an EHS drama student.
