HOLYOKE – One person was injured in a fire that broke out at a multi-family home at 280 West Franklin St. Saturday afternoon.

The Holyoke Fire Dept received 911 calls for a fire on an outside porch at the 2½-story home at around 3 p.m. Firefighters found fire on the first floor, driveway side porch. Fire Capt. Kevin Cavagnac said in a statement that strong winds intensified the fire, but firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before it spread very far into the interior of the structure.

All of the residents escaped. Three tenants on the first floor were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. One tenant received minor burns and was transported to a hospital emergency room, according to the Holyoke Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Holyoke Fire Department with assistance from the state Fire Marshal’s Office.
