NORTHAMPTON — Emergency crews were called to the CVS Pharmacy on Main Street Tuesday afternoon after a white powder was found on the floor, an official said.

Deputy Fire Chief Timothy McQueston said the department received the call around 4 p.m. and summoned a state hazardous materials unit to investigate after the powder was found.

McQueston said he didn’t have test results, but that “it didn’t appear to be anything major.”

He said emergency crews left the scene at about 6 p.m.
