HADLEY — Both incumbent members of the Select Board will be seeking reelection in May when Hadley’s annual town election is held.
With nomination forms available at the town clerk’s office, David J. Fill, II, first elected in 2018 and serving as the board’s chairman, and John C. Waskiewicz II, who has been a member of the board since 2013, said they are interested in continuing their service.
Heather Klesch, the lone School Committee incumbent up for election, though, said with her son graduating from Hopkins last spring, she will step off the committee at the conclusion of her tenure, having completed nine years of service.
“I’ve valued my time on the committee and look forward to closing out my term,” Klesch wrote in an email.
The town election is set for May 17, and will follow, rather than precede, the annual Town Meeting. Voters last April approved a nonbinding question to move the town election from the second Tuesday in April to the third Tuesday in May. The idea is that there could be cost savings as any Proposition 2½ debt-exclusion spending items approved at Town Meeting can be placed on the ballot.
Following are the other positions up for election and the incumbents:
Moderator for one year, Randall Izer; Board of Assessors for three years, Richard S. Grader; Board of Health for three years, Gregory Mish; Planning Board for five years, William Dwyer, Jr.; Elector under the Oliver Smith Will for one year, Sheila Konieczny; Park Commission for three years, Diane Kieras-Ciolkos; town clerk for three years, Jessica Spanknebel; library trustees for three years, Meghan Campbell and David Moskin; constables for three years, William R. Banack and Richard Downie.
In addition, two positions are vacant, a one-year and a three-year term on the Hadley Housing Authority.
Registered voters interested in serving have until March 25 to obtain nomination forms from Spanknebel.
