HS skiing: Coriann Delaney opens alpine season with second-place slalom run

Frontier Regional junior Coriann Delaney opened the alpine ski season with a second-place finish in the girls slalom, Thursday at Berkshire East.

She completed the course in 36.98 seconds in the first PVIAC race of the year.

Mohawk’s Taylor Loomis was first at 35.48.

Juliet Scott, of Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter School, placed sixth at 42.02.

Northampton’s Abbie Denhart tied for seventh (42.02), and Jessica Garriepy of Gateway took ninth (42.14). Amherst’s Sora Green followed closely in 10th (42.35).

Summer Duda finished 19th for Hampshire Regional (46.88).

In the boys giant slalom, Northampton’s Nathaniel Jones placed fourth (24.98). Joey Green of Amherst was eighth (25.93).

Hampshire Regional’s Dawson Kelly took 13th (26.5). Jake Thayer of Gateway placed 16th (26.63).

Sebastian English was 20th for PVCICS (27.16).

Frontier’s Ben Martino finished 22nd (27.77).
