HS alpine skiing: Frontier junior Coriann Delaney places first in PVIAC

Frontier Regional junior Coriann Delaney captured the win in the first PVIAC girls giant slalom race of the season, Tuesday at Berkshire East in Charlemont.

She crossed the line in 25.56 seconds, just edging Minnechaug’s Grace Crochiere, who was second at 25.86.

Nothampton’s Ellie Mahoney placed eighth (27.42), and Abbie Denhart was ninth (27.47).

Juliett Scott of Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter School finished 12th (28.11). Hampshire Regional’s Summer Duda took 13th (28.59), while Amherst Regional’s Sora Green placed 14th (28.74).

Hampshire’s Talya Gilman-Solomon was 15th (28.75) and Gateway’s Jessica Garriepy was 16th (28.76). Frontier’s Areia Heilman was 17th in 28.78.

In the boys slalom, Gateway’s Zachary Ames finished fourth in 34.03. Cameron Ottoson of East Longmeadow won (31.85).

Edward Przybyla of Hampshire placed fifth (34.96), while teammate Dawson Kelly was 13th (38.45). Northampton’s Nathaniel Jones was eighth (35.98).

Sebastian English of PVCICS took 14th (39.01), Gateway’s Ryan Ames was 16th (39.89) and Amherst’s Joey Green finished 19th (40.72).
