SOUTH DEERFIELD — The Frontier Regional football team won its third straight game Friday night, beating Franklin Tech, 41-14, in an Intercounty North matchup.

The Red Hawks (4-1, 2-1) set the tone early with an interception by junior Matt Hildreth on the Eagles’ first play of the game. The turnover led to the first of six Frontier touchdowns.

All but one of Frontier’s touchdowns were scored on the ground. Senior running back Aaron Landry received most of the goal-line carries that resulted in four touchdowns. Landry finished the game with 85 yards on 15 carries, and 31 yards on the lone touchdown reception thrown by Hildreth.

The other touchdown was scored on a 75-yard run by senior running back Stephen Worthley, who finished with 253 yards on 22 carries.

Hildreth provided 61 yards rushing on six attempts.

During the win streak the Red Hawks have averaged 44 points per game and outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points.

“We just run the ball and see what happens,” Frontier coach Don Gordon said.

Although the offense has been running efficiently, Gordon is still looking down the road and can see what his team needs to do.

“There’s room for improvement,” Gordon said. “The offensive line has to sustain their blocks a little longer. Instead of getting 10 or 15 yards, it would be nice to get some touchdowns.”

The Red Hawks had 11 penalties.

“Oh god the 11 penalties. I don’t know what the refs are calling. I’ve looked at the film and I just don’t know what they’re calling,” Gordon said “Sometimes were in so tight that when we pick up the yardage they just think that we’re holding.”

The Red Hawks visit Turner Falls next Friday at 7 p.m.
