NORTHAMPTON — Hampshire County will be under a flash flood watch starting at 11 a.m. through late Thursday night, along with other parts of northern Connecticut and Massachusetts.

According to a National Weather Service alert, a cold front approaching southern New England will pick up moisture from Tropical Storm Michael, which began as a hurricane, leading to heavy rain locally.

The alert warns of moderate to heavy rainfall averaging 1-2 inches, although locally heavier amounts may occur, particularly alongside thunderstorms or at high terrains. Flash flooding may potentially occur in a 1-3 hour window.
