EASTHAMPTON — Submarine periscopes are designed and manufactured at an L-3 KEO plant in Northampton. E Ink Corp., which has its global headquarters in Taiwan, produces display screens for devices such as Kindles at a production facility in South Hadley.

To celebrate the diverse range of the manufacturing enterprise in Hampshire County, the Franklin Regional Employment Board will host a “Manufacturing Day”  for local manufacturers to share information about their products and company. The event will be held at Eastworks from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday. Admission is free and open to the public.

L-3 KEO and E Ink will participate in the event as well as other Hampshire County manufacturers including Chartpak Inc., Easthampton Machine Tool, Kanzaki Specialty Papers, Millitech and Quabbin Wire.

The event is part of a month-long series throughout Massachusetts aimed to raise the profile of manufacturing in the state.

Thursday’s event at Eastworks will focus on learning as well as networking. For an information-gathering scavenger hunt, participants will observe each company’s display table and collect facts. Prizes include a Kindle Fire HD and a Kimbell Clock made by E Ink.

Along with about a dozen local manufacturers, public officials including Easthampton Mayor Karen Cadieux, Northampton Mayor David Narkewicz, state Senate President Stanley Rosenberg, D-Amherst, Sen. Donald F. Humason Jr., R-Westfield, and Rep. John W. Scibak, D-South Hadley, plan to attend the event.

“Each of the businesses at this event contributes to our economy,” Scibak said in a news release. “I look forward to working with them to ensure that manufacturing will play a key role in our economy for years to come.”
