NORTHAMPTON — A Greenfield woman suffered minor injuries after her Jeep rolled over on the southbound I-91 off-ramp at Exit 21.
Massachusetts State Police were called to the area around 10:15 a.m. for a report of a “multiple rollover” crash. It was not known Wednesday evening what caused the crash.
Trooper Paul Sullivan said the 87-year-old driver was taken to Cooley Dickinson Hospital for minor injuries. It was not immediately known if she was wearing a seat belt.
Shortly after the crash, at around 10:30 a.m., there were four Massachusetts State Police cruisers, a fire engine, a fire rescue vehicle and a truck towing the 2016 Jeep Compass from the scene. First responders gathered on the grassy island between the highway’s on- and off-ramps. A “Wrong Way” sign alongside the exit ramp was bent down to the ground.
The vehicle sustained heavy front end damage and the windshield was smashed. Officials spent about a half-hour clearing the scene. The scene was cleared at 10:50 a.m.
The crash remains under investigation.
This story has been corrected to show that the accident occurred at I-91’s Exit 21.
