NORTHAMPTON — Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash Wednesday that resulted in a rollover on Locust Street.
At approximately 2:20 p.m., a Ford Explorer pulled out of the entrance of Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School — closer to Cooley Dickinson Hospital — and headed east on Route 9. The driver then stopped at the traffic light near the hospital access road, according to police Sgt. Josef Barszcz.
At the other entrance, closest to Hatfield Street, the driver of a Honda Fit pulled out into traffic in the same direction, heading for the same lane as the driver of the Ford Explorer.
“From my understanding, the operator of the Fit swerved at the last minute and clipped the rear passenger side of the Explorer,” Barszcz said. “The impact caused the Fit to roll over and the operator sustained minor injuries.”
He said the damage to the two vehicles is estimated at more than $1,000. No additional information was available.
