Amherst Regional cross country teams cap perfect seasons

The Amherst Regional boys and girls cross country teams closed their season on Wednesday, each beating Palmer 15-50.

Both Hurricanes squads finished the year 6-0.

In the boys meet, Armando Feldman led Amherst on its 3.1-mile course. Feldman finished in 19 minutes, 54 seconds. Eight teammates followed over the next five seconds.

Eric Treyz and Jackson Hinkel were each one second behind. Griffin Jones was two seconds back, while Diego Lopez capped the win three seconds after Feldman broke the tape.

Aidan Bergeron (19:58), Spencer Waite (19:59), Kyle Yanko (19:59) and Ben Buffone (19:59) were the final cars on the Hurricanes’ lead train.

In the girls meet, Maddie Shea was the first of seven straight Hurricanes across the line.

Shea finished in 21:40. April Schilling also broke 22 minutes, crossing in 21:57.

Ava Zimmerman was third in 23:56. Lia Cullen (24:08) was fourth, followed by McKenzie Fitz (24:41), Vivi Bernier (25:02) and Annalise Peterson (25:05).
