In response to Jan Morris’ recent letter to the editor regarding thank you’s to President Trump, I have some thank you’s that I would like to offer our commander-in-chief.

1. Thank you for not launching a nuclear attack on North Korea, turning it into a “parking lot” as you described. Your restraint likely kept the world from encountering WWIII.

2. Thank you for banning transgender soldiers from the military. Your action increased the awareness of transgender people and the issues affecting them. It has likely been good for the transgender cause as it has created a public outpouring of support for the proud and brave transgender individuals who previously wore the uniform of our nation’s military.

3. Thank you for leaving so many important governmental positions unfilled. This has left a lack of effectiveness in many governmental departments, which is probably preferable to what might have happened had you selected the type of unqualified, inappropriate people you frequently select for the many cabinet positions and other high-profile government jobs.

4. Also, thank you for installing air conditioning in the monstrous tents used to house immigrants who do come across the southern border of the U.S. In WWII, interned Japanese-Americans, that’s real U.S. citizens we are talking about, did not even have this “luxury” in their “camps” in the desert.

5. And finally, thank you for not using an executive order to have the North and South Lawns of the White House dug up, sand and water traps created, and a new Trump Washington International Golf Course created on the property that we, the American people, designate as the place that our rightfully-elected presidents live during their time in office.
