EASTHAMPTON — City Arts Coordinator Pasqualina Azzarello decorated a “jersey barrier” that separates a new shaded seating area from the rest of the Municipal Building parking lot on Payson Avenue on Thursday. Azzarello, enjoying an occasional green olive as she worked, said she was quite happy doing the painting and that the experience was familiar to her as she once made a living in New York City painting the 100- to 400-foot long stretches of fencing that surround construction sites.
Two newly placed 20-by-20-foot canopies now provide shade for six picnic-style tables with attached benches in the southeast corner of the Easthampton lot. The parking lot also hosts the weekly “Spot Lot” series of concerts which continue this Saturday, May 15, featuring a double bill with Pamela Means opening at 4 p.m. followed by Stomp Box Trio at 5 p.m.
