South Hadley police raid suspected marijuana grow house

SOUTH HADLEY — Police on Tuesday at approximately 6 a.m. executed a search warrant on a residential property on Abbey Street for the unlawful cultivation of cannabis, according to a statement from Chief Jennifer Gundersen.

Police closed Abbey Street to through traffic so that law enforcement and other public safety personnel could maintain safety and conduct their search.

No arrests had been made as of early afternoon. Gundersen said there was no ongoing threat to the community.

Police expected to reopen Abbey Street to traffic later Tuesday.

South Hadley police received assistance from the Massachusetts State Police and the MPS Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement Team (CLET) as well as the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services’ Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Division.
