Daytime roadwork on Union Street

EASTHAMPTON — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation will conduct pavement work on Union Street during daytime hours starting Monday and continuing through Wednesday, April 24. The work will take place from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.

A detour will be in place along local roadways, with signage in place. Local businesses will remain accessible. Appropriate signs, law enforcement details and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.

Drivers traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution. All work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.

Temporary closure of rail trail crossing at Damon Road

NORTHAMPTON — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is announcing it will close the Norwottuck Rail Trail crossing at Damon Street in Northampton starting Monday and lasting through Friday, April 12.

During the closure, bike and pedestrian traffic will be detoured. Bike and pedestrian traffic will be detoured down the sidewalk toward the rotary, utilizing an existing crosswalk to cross Damon Road, and will continue back to the rail trail via the sidewalk and rail trail parking lot.

Vehicle traffic on Damon Road will not be impacted.

The closure is necessary to allow crews to excavate and install concrete wheelchair ramps. During the closure, the detour will be marked with signs.
