The Republicans’ demand that we deprive Ukraine of financial and armament support unless we also spend a large amount of money on closing our southern border is the equivalent of creating a massive hurricane to address a house on fire.

If Putin takes over Ukraine, nothing will stop him from moving steadily westward into Europe, until the world realizes we have to go to war to stop the takeover. That is a very familiar process to anyone who grew up during World War II.

Yes, the southern border needs a significant increase in attention and wise organization, but it is not on the level of danger that is Putin’s ambition to acquire more and more of Europe.
