Ray Ahearn: John Calipari and the House GOP

Two unrelated news items caught my attention today. The first was Kentucky Wildcat basketball fans booing Coach John Calipari and urging him to move on and apply for the Texas Longhorns coaching job. Second was the House GOP voting to set up a special subcommittee to investigate the government. My reflection to these two news flashes is that Kentucky’s possible loss of Calipari could be a huge opportunity for UMass fans to entice him to come back to where he cut his teeth as a Hall of Fame basketball coach. With all due respect to its current coach, I believe that Calipari is the one coach who could bring back the glory years of the late 1990s and allow us to crush the UConn Huskies again. And regards to that “special” subcommittee, I think it is incumbent on all voters to remind the Jim Jordans of the world that they, too, are part of the U.S. Government.
