MONTAGUE — A violent incident early Friday evening led to two people being hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and one man arrested and charged with multiple crimes.

According to the Northwestern district attorney’s office, Elijah Michonski, 18, of Montague, entered the home of two relatives who live in Montague around 6 p.m. Friday, stabbed both multiple times, then stole their car to escape.

Michonski was arrested shortly afterward by police officers from Montague, Erving and Gill.

Michonski is expected to be arraigned in Greenfield District Court Monday morning on eight charges: two counts of aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of armed assault with intent to murder, two counts of home invasion, breaking and entering during daytime with intent to commit a felony, and motor vehicle larceny.

Investigations are ongoing by the Montague Police Department and State Police.

The Montague Police Department could not provide any more details on the case when contacted on Saturday. The department’s dispatcher said all public information on the case is being controlled by the DA’s Office.
