Cooley Dickinson lifts temporary visiting policy

Northampton — Cooley Dickinson Hospital has lifted its temporary, restrictive visiting policy effective immediately.

The more restrictive visiting policy was put in place in mid-February in response to increased numbers of people being admitted to the hospital with seasonal flu.

While people are still getting the flu, Infection Prevention Nurse Manager Linda Riley says the numbers of people testing positive for flu are much lower.

Riley encourages people who are sick to stay home from work or school. To help prevent the spread of infection, she reminds everyone to clean their hands often, especially before eating and after using the bathroom.

Candidate forum Thursday night

SOUTH HADLEY — Residents will get a chance to hear from those running for office Thursday night as Know Your Town will host a Candidates’ Night.

At least 15 of the 20 candidates running for local major offices will attend the forum, according to Know Your Town.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. at the South Hadley Town Hall Auditorium.

Television news reporter Ray Hershel will moderate the program.
