SOUTH HADLEY — All but four candidates who returned election papers by Jan. 16 will run unopposed in March’s town election, with many familiar faces on the ballot for Select Board, town moderator and town assessors.

The position of trustee of the public library is the only contested race, with four residents vying for three spots. Neil Broome will run for the first time against incumbents Timna Tarr, Lanette Sweeney and Mitchell Resnick.

New candidates for both the School Committee and Planning Board turned in papers, while a resident running for reelection fills the other spot. All four candidates are unopposed: John Witkowski joins incumbent Danielle Cooke on the ballot for School Committee, and first-time candidate Bradford Hutchison and returning member Robert Watchilla are seeking seats on the Planning Board.

Town Moderator John Hine, Select Board Members Jeff Cry and Carol Constant, Municipal Light Board Member Ronald Coutu and Board of Assessor member Evelyn Masson are all running for reelection unopposed.

The last day to register to vote in the March 5 elections is on Feb. 24 by 5 p.m.
