HOLYOKE — A second Holyoke man is being held without the right to bail for his alleged role in the murder of a Chicopee man on Lyman Street on May 13.

Ryan Navarro, 29, was arraigned Wednesday in Holyoke District Court on a charge of murder in the shooting death of Jasell Camacho, 27, of Chicopee, on May 13 at around 1:32 a.m. in the 100 block of Lyman Street. He will be held until his next court date on Aug. 25.

Previously, James Carmenatty, 34, also of Holyoke, was arrested on a charge of murder in the case. Carmenatty is also being held without right to bail since his arrest and arraignment on May 19.

The charges were brought after detectives from both the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden district attorney’s office and the Holyoke Police Department developed a probable cause in the homicide investigation, according to the district attorney’s office.

Holyoke police officers arrived at the scene of the shooting after receiving a ShotSpotter activation, finding Camacho lying on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound at the corner of High and Lyman streets. Emergency medical services were performed but were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
