SOUTHAMPTON — An Amazon delivery driver using his own vehicle suffered minor injuries Wednesday evening when he missed a stop sign in foggy conditions at the junction of Cold Spring and Lead Mine roads and traveled 30 feet down an embankment into a swamp, interim Fire Chief Richard Fasoli said Thursday.

Southampton police and fire departments responded to the scene just after 8 p.m. and found the driver still in the vehicle, Fasoli said. He was able to get himself out of the car and walk up the bank. Fasoli said the driver had a wrist injury and some bruising, and he was taken to Cooley Dickinson Hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Ernie’s Towing removed the vehicle from the woods.
