Move to Heal Recovery Program opens in S. Hadley

SOUTH HADLEY — Move to Heal, a nonprofit that supports people who are facing mental health issues, addiction and other life challenges by offering free group exercise, recovery meetings, nutritional coaching and mental health counseling, is opening a location in South Hadley on Saturday at SVG Athletics, located at 749 New Ludlow Road. No reservations or sign-ups are required.

Free group workout sessions, held every Saturday at 10 a.m., are open to anyone facing anxiety, depression, PTSD, addiction, post-partum or other life challenges. Participants take part in a 30-minute workout catered to all fitness levels, followed by a one-hour support meeting. Free individual therapy with a licensed therapist is also offered, by appointment. Those who attend regularly qualify for free gym memberships and free nutritional coaching, as Move to Heal believes that exercise, commitment and repetition create healthy habits.

Move to Heal partners with gyms to provide a comfortable and welcoming environment with free fitness classes, followed by non-denominational group recovery meetings. Participants bond on a physical level during workouts and on an emotional level at meetings.
