Tim Fay shuts down Wilbraham Blue, as Post 224 wins nail-biter

Tim Fay threw a one-hitter and struck out eight, as the Easthampton Post 224 American Legion baseball team beat Wilbraham Blue 1-0 on Saturday.

He walked just three.

Post 224 won its second straight game.

Cody Cavanaugh drove in Easthampton’s run in the first inning.

Connor Roy (run), Fay singled for Easthampton (6-8).

Northampton 16, Ludlow 1 (4) — Aidan Chapdelaine (four hits), Mike Mieczkowski (one hit) and Devin Kellogg (three hits) all drove in three runs in a Saturday American Legion rout.

Matt Bouley allowed just one run in a complete game. Tristan Szawlowski, Devontay Edmonds, Zac Brittain, Dillon Diemand and Jake Brittain all drove in runs.

Longmeadow 4, Northampton 2 — Edmonds and Bouley had RBIs in a loss Sunday for Post 28. Edmonds had two hits. Mieczkowski and Andy Grygorcewicz both singled and scored for Northampton (10-4).

Belchertown 6, Westfield American 3 — Derek Goult hit a two-run homer, and Belchertown remained in the winners bracket of the Little League District 2 11-12 tournament.

Kainoa David also drove in a run. Ian McDonald had two hits.

Brady Perkins, Josh Misiaszek and Zach Buffone singled.

Belchertown next will play at Southampton on Monday at 6 p.m.

Frontier 8, Mohawk 3 — Ben Zaranek struck out nine batters to earn the victory Sunday. Matt Como was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Kevin Baumann had a hit and drove in two runs, while Zaranek and Tyler Baranowski each had a hit and an RBI. Gehrig Brynda drove in a run in the win, and Frontier also received hits from Dylan Martin, Ben Martino, Kyle Barnes and Aidan Falla.

Mohawk 4, Frontier 1 — Jake Labelle, Matt Gardner and Pat Boyden all had hits in a Saturday Mickey Mantle loss. Xavier Santiago pitched well in relief.

Amherst 7, Northampton 4 — Logan Dappritch, Quinton Molinero, Eli Kaiser-Hirsch and Braeden Duryn all had a hit and scored a run in Saturday’s Mickey Mantle victory. Kaiser-Hirsch also struck out five to earn the win.

Judah Katz, Nate Mills and JB Mills scored runs for Amherst (8-1).

Owen Shelffo doubled and had two RBIs for Northampton (7-4).

Patrick Serio had two hits and scored two runs. Orion McLain hit a sacrifice fly, while Tom O’Connor and Wilson Heath (run) had two hits each.
