As we head out of winter, I look forward to the return of outdoor programs on the west lawn at Forbes Library. So far, these have included music, dance, speakers, movies, demonstrations, magic shows, and children’s readings. Conducting these programs currently requires running an electric extension cord out the children’s library window and hauling bulky plywood platforms from the basement and replacing them after each performance. Current fundraising aims to replace these makeshift arrangements with a new, permanent outdoor stage. You can help make this a reality by supporting Forbes on or before Library Giving Day (April 3). With your support, the library can expand its outdoor offerings for the whole community. I am hopeful that we can get the stage up and running this summer. Please help if you can.
