We are sending our gratitude and appreciation to Joe’s Cafe in Northampton for creating an event to honor the memory of Katie Lyons. Their loving support last Wednesday raised funds for the newly established Katie’s Toy Fund at Friends of Children, which will provide gifts and other items for children placed in foster care. No one knew better than Katie how important community and family are. For years, she worked happily raising money and buying holiday gifts for children and youth in care, giving children and the community who donated a measure of belonging to something larger than themselves. Our love and thanks go to Meg Sullivan, Jack Sullivan and all the staff of Joe’s for making this night so successful and special. We are so lucky to live in such a wonderful, caring and compassionate community. We can’t thank you enough. It matters so much during difficult times.
