Susan Farrell: Cap on cannabis shops unnecessary

Reading about the proposed cap on cannabis shops, I just wonder why? Proposed is a cap of 12. Already one closed and the Ward 7 City Councilor Rachel Maiore said she was told it’s an “unhealthy market.” No more regulations are needed as it will self-regulate. Neighboring states are opening up so fewer people from out-of-state need to come here to shop. It does seem like demand is waning already. But this regulation could create an unnecessary issue regarding social equity candidates. Why make a bigger problem by yet another regulation that isn’t even needed?
