HOLYOKE — A Greenfield woman with no license to carry or FID card was arraigned in Holyoke District Court on Monday after being arrested by police while walking on High Street carrying guns and knives in a trash bag.

Sheri Sulewski, 58, pleaded not guilty on Monday to two counts of carrying a firearm without a license. She is being held on $5,000 bail.

Sulewski’s arrest came on Friday after members of the Holyoke Police Department Narcotics Unit and the FBI Western Massachusetts Gang Task Force received information that an older woman wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt and a hat was reportedly walking on High Street and appeared to be carrying rifles in a trash bag, according to a post on the Holyoke Police Department’s Facebook page.

Detectives located a woman matching that description on Essex Street, just below High Street, and she was identified as Sulewski. According to police, Sulewski was found in possession of two shotguns and two military Ka-Bar knives that were wrapped in a black trash bag.

The firearms and knives were not reported stolen at the time of the arrest. Sulewski is due back in Holyoke District Court on Oct. 12 for a pretrial hearing.
