Brady Currier stepped up in the fourth quarter for the South Hadley boys basketball team against Granby on Wednesday. 

Leading 34-31 going into the final quarter, Currier tossed in 10 points in the final eight minutes of action which helped the Tigers pull away with a 53-46 independent victory in South Hadley. 

Currier and Jack Loughrey each finished with 16 points in the win. Owen Dawson tossed in seven points while Noah Hambley added five points for the Tigers, which improved to 9-7 on the season with the key victory.

Gavier Fernandez (14) and Colin Murdock (11) finished in double figures for the Rams (12-5). Cody Breault tallied six points while Riley Goodhind scored five points in the loss. 

Drury 50, Frontier 47 — The Redhawks got two looks from 3-point range to tie the game in the final seconds but both shots fell short, as the Blue Devils escaped with a 50-47 Hampshire League South victory at Goodnow Gymnasium in South Deerfield.

The loss snapped a five-game win streak for Frontier. 

Babb tallied 18 points, Nico Fasulo scored 15 points, Max Millette finished with 12 points while Rowan Modestow added four points for the Redhawks. 

Southwick 72, Easthampton 64 — Trevor Canon-Smith's 31 points weren't enough to get the Eagles past the Rams on Wednesday in Southwick.

Brayden English scored 21 points while Noah Murray added five points for Easthampton. 

The Eagles led 52-49 before being outscored 23-10 in the fourth. 

Girls basketball

Belchertown 47, Drury 30 — Aubrey McCain and Chloe LaRoche gave the Blue Devils defense fits on Wednesday.

McCain scored 19 points on five 3’s while LaRoche added 18 points, helping the Orioles earn a win in Belchertown. 

Morghan Litz added a 3-pointer in the victory. 

Frontier 51, Palmer 38 — Skyler Steele’s 18 points helped power the Redhawks to a Franklin County League North win over the Panthers in Palmer on Wednesday. 

Frontier trailed 25-18 at the half but responded in the final 16 minutes, outscoring Palmer 21-8 in the third quarter and 12-5 in the fourth. 

Olivia Machon and Hailey Hutkoski both finished with 10 points while Claire Kirkendall tallied six points in the victory.

Easthampton 52, Agawam 36 – Dominant offensive nights from Sophia Faginski and Kayley Downie enabled the Eagles to roll to an independent win on Wednesday.

Faginski and Downie each scored 20 points in the win for Easthampton, which improved to 12-4 on the season.

Samone Young added five points and Christine Raymond scored four in the win.

Easthampton travels to Lenox on Thursday.

 Hockey

Easthampton 10, McCann 3 – Zach Roy netted a hat trick with two assists, and Jaevian Lopez scored a pair of goals to power the Eagles to a decisive Wright Division win on Wednesday night.

Easthampton goalie Tommy Bixby made 19 saves to earn his first varsity victory between the pipes.

Drew Thompson (1G), Minti Peterson (1G, 1A), Rob Herman (1G, 1A), Gabe Growhoski (1G, 2A), Parker Christy (1G), Anthony Torchia (1A), Jacob Ouimette (1A) and Brennan Stortz (1A) all notched poits for Easthampton, which improved to 11-5 on the season.

The Eagles play at Amherst on Thursday night at 8:15 p.m.
