Alpine ski: Northampton’s Keller Mahoney, Hampshire’s Hazel Scully-Henry top local finishers at PVIAC Meet No. 5

The Mohawk Trail girls alpine ski team continued its dominance this winter on Tuesday evening. The Warriors put the top three individual skiers down the giant slalom course, besting the field at PVIAC Meet No. 5 at Berkshire East in Charlemont.

Addie Loomis won her fifth race in as many tries for Mohawk Trail, crossing the line first overall with a time of 32.77 seconds. Teammates Emmy Sisum (second, 33.98) and Sofiya Slocik-Gritzner (third, 34.13) were close behind to complete the 1-2-3 sweep.

Hampshire Regional’s Hazel Scully-Henry was the top local finisher, as she traversed the GS course with a time of 34.61 seconds to finish in seventh place.

PVCICS’ Sarah Fardal was next across, finishing eighth overall with a time of 34.68 seconds.

Hampshire’s Dana Warren (14th, 36.08), Northampton’s Simone Pagar (21st, 37.24), Camilla Hatch (24th, 37.99) and Crystal Eichwald-Hoopes (25th, 38.20) all cracked the top 25 to pace the Hampshire County contingent.

Mahoney, Warren strong again

Tuesday’s boys’ race took place on the slalom course, where Mohawk Trail’s Weston Den Ouden won again with a time of 40.99 seconds.

Northampton’s Keller Mahoney was Hampshire County’s top performer, taking third overall in 43.88 seconds, just ahead of Hampshire’s Billy Warren in fourth place (44.56).

Hampshire’s Jon Dunn also cracked the top 10, crossing eighth overall with a time of 46.33 seconds.

PVCICS’ Teddy Scott (11th, 47.66) and Hampshire’s Isaac Stith (12th, 48.24) put together solid races, with PVCICS’ Clayton English also scoring a top 15 finish by crossing in 14th (49.90).

Hampshire’s Brandon Couture made it seven Hampshire County skiers in the top 20 individually, as he took 20th position in 53.01 seconds.

Northampton’s Jasper Tuck (23rd, 54.05) and Henry Fallon (24th, 54.43) also notched top 25 finishes.
