The 10U Northampton Little League softball team has enjoyed tremendous success this season. Northampton went 13-0 in the regular season and is now competing at the district level, hoping to march even further.

Head coach Chase Giroux described the impact that this season has on the future of the Northampton softball program, both by getting new players to join while also developing current players to want to play softball long term.

This season has sparked new hope softball in Northampton.

“I have been coaching the same team since they were six or seven years old,” said Giroux. “We are looking to the future right now, looking ahead to high school.”

This Northampton team features a stellar pitcher/catcher duo in Avery Hicks and Sadie Muszynski, typically accounting for over nine strikeouts per game alongside frequent caught stealing tosses to second, which are normally uncommon at this age range.

This season, however, means more for the players and coaches than just the game of softball.

“Coaching is more than teaching the sport itself. It means teaching life lessons,” Giroux said. “This team is like a family, with them having such great connection and cohesiveness, and the best part is that they enjoy each other.”

With such a season, the 10U Northampton softball team has enjoyed sizable support at home games. Friends and family gather to watch, alongside teachers and other members of the community.

“The community really supports this team, and we have an incredible group of fans,” Giroux said.

Giroux made sure to give other coaches credit in what they’ve done for Northampton softball.

“The coaches are phenomenal in the program, and they all have fun with these kids developing our program,” Giroux said.

Giroux is looking to further develop these young players, which will help put Northampton softball back on the right track going forward.

“The future is bright for the Northampton program due to these kids,” said Giroux.
