Friday’s summer sports: Easthampton blanks Southampton in U12 Bi-County softball championship

Jocelyn Mettey and Rosie Follet combined on a two-hitter for Easthampton in a 1-0 eight-inning win over Southampton in the U-12 Bi County League Championship game Friday at Nonotuck Park.

Mettey pitched four innings with nine strikeouts while allowing one hit. Follet pitched four innings with four strikeouts.

Follet picked up the win in the circle when Kayley Downie’s walk-off RBI groundout scored Teaghan Charles from third.

Abby McClaflin, Charles, Mettey, Lauren Morse and Haley Routhier each had a hit for top-seeded Easthampton (19-1).

Emma Czarniecki and Paige Galpin had hits for Southampton (16-4).

Little League

Easthampton 31, Westfield 3 — Ryan O’Leary had two hits, including a homer, and four RBIs in an Intermediate District 2 Tournament pool play win for Easthampton at home.

Justin Colpack homered with three RBIs, while Will Robbins and Otis Follet added to the attack with five RBIs each. Nick Lloyd went 5-for-5 for Easthampton.

Robbins pitched three innings to pick up the win.

Belchertown 4, Northampton 2 — Chris Misiaszek allowed two hits and one run over five innings in the Intermediate District 2 Tournament pool play win for Belchertown.

Ayden Cardwell had a solo homer in the first, while Colby Kokosa added an RBI single for Belchertown.

Misiaszek and Ryan Zawistowski each had two hits for Belchertown.

Trevor Maslowski and Luke Gaida each had a hit for Northampton.

Little League Senior Division

Southampton 29, Agawam 0 (5) — Jake Vishaway struck out 10 and allowed three hits as Southampton won in Senior District 2 Tournament pool play.

Nick Pellegrini went 4-for-5 with four RBIs while John Carey had three hits and two RBIs for Southampton.
