Friday’s colleges: UMass women’s lacrosse buries UNH

Hannah Burnett scored five goals as the UMass women’s lacrosse team stormed past New Hampshire, 13-4, Friday.

Hannah Murphy added three goals and 10 draw controls as the Minutewomen (3-3) evened their record in Durham, New Hampshire.

Kaitlyn Cerasi had a pair of goals, while Kiley Anderson, Callie Santos and Holly Turner (two assists) each added one.

Goalie Lauren Hiller earned the win with 11 saves.

Baseball

Maine 4, UMass 2— The Minutemen held the Black Bears scoreless for six innings, but Maine rallied for four runs in the seventh for the win far away from the Northeast.

Ryan Lever had two hits, while Dylan Morris and Mike Geanneliss each had one RBI in Delray Beach, Florida.

Softball

San Jose State 3, UMass 0 — Candace Denis, Ashton Wince, Melissa Garcia and Kate Dennis each had one hit as the Minutewomen (3-13) dropped their opener in the Aggie Invitational in Davis, California.

UC Davis 3, UMass 2 — Kaitlyn Stavinoha had two hits, while Erin Stacevicz, Kaycee Carbone and Nicole Imhof each had one as the Minutewomen (3-14) fell in the Aggie Invitational in Davis, California.

Amherst native and Indiana redshirt junior Michael Hixon placed second on 3-meter springboard at the Zone C championships, to advance to the NCAA Championships.

Hixon finished with 840.20 points. Teammate James Connor won with 867.60.

On Thursday, Hixon placed first on 1-meter with 831.80 points.

Women’s indoor track

Smith College junior Zoe Rubinstein tied for fourth on pole vault with a leap of 12 feet, 3½ inches at the NCAA Division III championships in Naperville, Illinois.
